Wednesday morning I am in route
Through downtown
to the outskirts of town
It is so familiar I don’t pay attention
I just go and reach my destination
I pass by the street sign
The one that always reminds
Me of when my son was small
He called them “K”s, that’s all he saw
An imbedded memory
Now that’s all I see
Autumn was late in her coming
Her attire not well arranged
Her colors faded too soon
Washed and wrinkled by the rain
A harvested cornfield
Says appetites were sated
Clearing a view
To be contemplated
A journey driven oh so often
Usually my thoughts are softened
By unseen roads in another realm
Beyond this life that overwhelms
I find my solace is waiting there
And I can go without leaving here
Maybe a fractal of sorts I am
A piece of a plan within a plan
But yes, I’m thankful today I did not miss
Fastening my eyes to earth as a softened kiss
A reminder take nothing we have for granted
Oh, to keep on being enchanted!
Tuesday at dVerse the word is journey. Take us with you on a journey you travel often, ether it be work or church or a journey you remember going on. What do you see, landmarks, landscapes? Or do you not see anything at all? I had to take pictures on my way to my Wed. job. Traveled twice a week, but I do miss a lot!
Thank you for joining in! I loved this journey – through space and time! I loved the landmarks created by your son’s imagination, still with you today. Tiny details like that make this so rooted and personal.

That autopilot – well described. I like how your son influences what you see – so true.

a piece of a plan within a plan, you place yourself in that journey and know you have a purpose, really beautiful words and thoughts on a journey that seems so regular, now seen with different eyes. you enchanted me!

Nice lines: “An imbedded memory
Now that’s all I see”. My memories are sometimes all I see as well. I liked the reference to “unseen roads”.

The journey without travelling really… I think we need to remember the small one and the beauty of staying
