Polarized Paradigm- A Novel and a Box of Chocolates

Here it comes, be still!
Words on pages fluttered in unison
so in agreement
So quick
So obedient, none dare move
“Go away”, the cover cried

“You dare to approach me
Your nuts, raisins, caramels-
Coconut creams waiting to ooze
Sloppy, syrupy cherries
Warming fingers
Oozing to shmear
My corners”

“Oh hush”, replied the chocolates
Do not your centers
Do the same
Chapter by chapter
Even your title
Lures and repels
A magnetic field
Leaves one satisfied
Begging for more

I have many dried, soiled pages. This was fun.

Napowrimo “Last but not least, here’s today’s optional prompt. This one comes from the poet and fiction writer Todd Dillard, who provided this idea on his twitter account a few months ago. The idea is to write a poem in which two things have a fight. Two very unlikely things, if you can manage it. Like, maybe a comb and a spatula. Or a daffodil and a bag of potato chips. Or perhaps your two things could be linked somehow – like a rock and a hard place – and be utterly sick of being so joined. The possibilities are endless!”

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am married, and a mother of two grown children. I love Jesus and sharing my faith through written words. My poetry is on my blog and you can find some previous stories on Medium and linked-in. My focus is hope in Christ. My desire is that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired, occasionally amused, kind, and patient to my growth in Christ as He conforms me to His image.

Nice comparison of what’s inside a book with what’s inside a box of chocolates.
