Eternity and Back Again

Pre me
Before the rain
A glint of light flickered
Awakened by His whispered breath
I was

New leaf
Spring’s announcement
Hidden life now breaks forth
Jubilant laughs of nature’s hues

Stretched skin Slithers
Venom in an apple
Garden of Eden marked with swords

Ground tea leaves soothe
Until supply runs dry
Cannot touch cancer of my soul
What now

More than an aide
Amen! bearer of God
Crushing the dragon’s evil head

Black tie
Is not required
I need no rare attire
A humble thanks and plea will do

No half and half
Not a question be asked
Only a new life to be lived
I win

Linda Kruschke and Paint chip Poetry. The challenge. A cinquain, a five line stand with a syllabic pattern of 2-4-6-8-2. Use all 7 words. Or write as many 5 line stanzas using all 7 words in order. I wrote the cinquain. The words/phrases are, before the rain, new leaf, Garden of Eden, matcha, dragon, black tie, half and half.

Do you know the story of the man who was dying of thirst in the desert? He just wanted some water. He kept walking and came upon a man selling ties. He said, What would I do with a tie? I need water, I’m thirsty! Can’t you see I am dying?

He traveled on, barely able to walk or breathe. Finally, he saw in the distance a building. As he got closer he realized it was a restaurant. He was so excited, he adrenalin kicked in and he started to run. He got to the door and the host met him. He said,

“I’m sorry sir, black tie only.”

Just thought I would share.

  4. This is one of my favorite poems of yours. And the added story of the black tie only is awesome.
