Permission

One friend cannot sleep on the night of a full moon. She blames the ocean tides. Throughout the years, in my many encounters, I observed many behaving far from the ordinary when stars move away from center stage.

As earth slowly uncovers a little light at a time, in full exposure some of us too, give a full performance. Its our one night to shine.

This year we get two, a harvest moon and a blue moon. Oh, what will we see….or do?

In full light we dance
Darkness follows close behind
Seasons wait their turn

dversepoets.com celebrates the moon. A harvest Moon on Oct 1 and a blue moon on October 31. So a haibun with the word moon is the challenge. A little fun.

  3. I understand that the word lunatic originated from Ancient Greece, describe those that slept under a full moon. An intriguing meditation on the influence of the Moon on us all!

Gorgeous! ❤️ Somehow I get this feeling that October will bring about many changes. The two full moons will undo any negativity that lingers. 🙂

Solid write, Mary. As former Teacher/Special Educator-turned Human Services Coordinator, I can attest that Moon phases do, indeed, affect behavior, mood, performance, etc.

    October may get very weird…

I too cannot sleep when there’s a full moon, but only if the curtains are open, even a little. if I get up in the middle of the night and see the full moon, it takes ages to get back to sleep.

I need my sleep so the moon can do what it likes so long as it doesn’t try peeping through my bedroom window!

The weather affects my bones. Why wouldn’t the moon affect my emotions? There’s a lot that we don’t know about the workings of God’s world! Nice meditation.
