Promises can be Painful

Maybe it was his lapis lazuli eyes
That drew her like a bee to the bloom

Maybe she saw him as an open sesame
Her access to milk and honey out of her tomb

Brushed aluminum has a gleam so pretty
But soon it corrodes underneath turning rusty

Rolling hills never move
It’s just the earth’s landscape
All those who keep climbing
May end up in great shape

We all want to glitter and sparkle like stars
Jesus came to redeem us and show us our scars

There is no story where one stands aright
When Christ is made judge He shines His light

A promise made is a promise to keep
Faith without works is an endless night with no sleep

Paint Chip Poetry with Linda Kruschke. The theme is making promises. The words are lapis lazuli, honey, sparkle, rusty, brushed aluminum, rolling hills, and open sesame. She wants at least three. I used all seven.

  1. Very nice. I love your opening line, using Lagos lazuli as the color instead of the stone. And I love your message. So glad Jesus keeps all his promises.
