The Right Key

I love sunset because
I know darkness follows
And unlocks the dawn
Aloe Vera soothes my scathing burn
But leaves a memorable scar
Could blue-white Rigel and red Betelgeuse
Be the keys to Orion’s fame
Still he hunts in endless toil and wins no wild game
But all by grace alone
Will walk a red carpet and receive
The key of keys
From the King of Kings
When one says “I believe”

The challenge from Paint Chip Poetry is to use four words on the list…marine, Orion, red carpet, sunset, Aloe Vera, total eclipse, cliff dwelling. The theme is “The key to happiness”.

  1. The best keys are those given by the King of kings. Well done.
