Beyond the Mirror

Who really stares back in the mirror each day
Mimicking all I do and say
Where does she go as I walk away?
Does she put on pink pearls I can never acquire
Enjoy watermelon and pinot noir near a blazing fire?
She doesn’t know sour grapes in a world she can’t touch
Lovely marigolds leave stains if handled too much
Is she blushing with glee— this other me?
What radical thoughts quickly occur
Could she envy my life — as I envy hers?

linking this to paint chip poetry with Linda Kruschke. The words are pinot noir, watermelon, blush, marigolds, sour grapes, pink pearls.

The task. Write a poem using at least three of these words  with a theme “the parallel world in my imagination”
