Keep me Down, but Please, Keep me Up

Gravity
That ethereal force
That keeps me down
So I can’t float away
When I want to stray
And fly like eagles
Looking down on prey
Threatening all smaller than I

An anchor
An ethereal force
That lifts me up
But holds me secure
So I can’t sink down
When all I see are prey
Who are bigger than I

Even gravity needs an anchor
To keep all in balance

Hope is the anchor of the soul

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. I love Jesus and sharing my faith through written words. I currently have a poetry blog and also write on medium.com. My main focus is hope in Christ. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused.

Your last line is such an inspirational one and ties your poem (up, not down) perfectly. 🙂
