Cookies and Spam

Cookies and spam
Went hand in hand
I made spam sandwiches for him
But you wouldn’t get me to touch ‘em
Sugar molasses cookies when leaves start fallin’
Never was his taste, me they were callin’
Now watch out – cookies are laced with bait
and spamming recognized too late
No more options what to like
Built into every device
Only one flavor be
Neither sweet nor savory
A pungent, bad taste to all
Close and accept?
Prepare for a squall
Now my cookies and spam
Are on the unhealthy list too
But once in a while
Nothing else will do
Spices fill the air
Seasoning wet leaves on the ground

I missed the deadline for dverse, but Frank Hubeny explores the polyptoton, a rhetorical reconsidering style and pervasiveness. Repetition of a phrase or word, repeated, but not exactly.

First time at it…on a rainy Sunday

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. I love Jesus and sharing my faith through written words. I currently have a poetry blog and also write on My main focus is hope in Christ. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused.
