I meditate to listen.
Does the earth not hear?
I meditate to understand
Maple’s hues are constant with its roots
I meditate to center
Autumn is never out of season
I meditate to worship
Earth needs not be told to bow
Perhaps it does nothing else
So never is it gone for long

I love the repetition here. Meditation, indeed, does wonders for the soul. A lovely poem.

I love your answer and the way the repetition emphasises the focus of the poem – meditation. My favourite lines are:
‘I meditate to understand
Maple’s hues are constant with its roots’.
