My Mind Stays On One

Anxiety and unrest is found on every long, winding road. Everyone encounters it at some time. Like sudden storms or low threatening clouds that linger aimlessly, they seek to dismantle and destroy.  I have so often bowed to them as they stripped me of all dignity and fed me lies. Yet, there is one greater who owns me. One who defends me, not for my sake alone, but His truth within me.
Brokenness has not destroyed me
I am elastic and pliable now
I stretch
I tighten
I give
I take
I loosen
I bend
I inhale
I exhale
I laugh
I cry
I sigh
And in every state I trust and wait
For Jesus
To move
To love
To listen
To speak
To be gentle
To be hard
To wait
To soothe
To comfort
To assure
To protect
To teach
To restore me again and again to peace, to safety, to a homeostatic state
In my soul where it all counts. prompt. Mindfulness. What do I do to put my heart at ease, my soul at peace and purify my heart?

I love how you describe your faith as both and anchor and a compass to guide your through life. Very well done!

  2. msjadeli says:

Jesus as the soul’s homeostatic regulator…. I love it! And this belief in Jesus as the regulator is what makes it work.

  3. Just beautiful, Mary.

  4. Frank Hubeny says:

I like your description of those clouds aimlessly lingering but with enough intention to “seek to dismantle and destroy”. The whole point of mindfulness is to walk with a Friend.
