Soft potato chips don’t cut it
Though the taste doesn’t change
It’s all in the crunch
Marshmallows need to be burnt around the edges
A thin, burning icicle melting into a warm pillow
Texture matters
Words can gel and harden as stone
And none can hew
While….
Some silence is thick and heavy
As one sloshes through
Birds play and soar in shapeless clouds
Mixed with sunlight
Texturing the sky
As I walk
What textures do I add
To those I walk by?
dVerse prompt today is texture. Any form of poem.
Marshmallows and chips make a great contrast in feeling and texture. I love them both!

My favorite part was about the birds and sunlight texturing the sky. It made me smile 🙂

Thank you for reminding me about the texture of food – so important! – and I loved your more emotional textures. So many images, pulled together by your ending. Great writing.

Thanks Sarah. I realized after that it was supposed there was supposed to be some touch in there, but when you think about it I don’t have to touch something to feel it.

Actually, this prompt grew out of a sensory integration workshop where we spent quite a bit of time talking about the texture of food.

The texture of words… love it, with that contrast with food (though I actually don’t like roasted marshmallows… never had it as a kid)

Nice ending. I hadn’t thought before that we add textures of our own to others.
