Opportunity Clothed In Fur

My friend, she came to stay with me awhile
She had a dog with nowhere else to go
One so full of energy to spare
But I like dogs and couldn’t say no
First he took the bag right from my tea
Soon he ate a gift a child had made for me
One pillow shred to pieces on the floor
So much fun was that he looked for more
Now with one less sheet upon the bed
I just close my eyes and shake my head
My friend insists in paying me my due
At this rate all old things could become new

This made me laugh. Before grandchildren we had a grand puppy – very much as you’ve described.
