Winds blow…Skies darken

(My soul in unrest)
Temperatures rise…Sun parches

(A thirst unquenched)
Ground breaks open

(I have no restraint)
Mountains melt away

(Swimming in my plaint)
Valleys carved in the crevices

(I hear laughing waters)
Oceans have space to spread their hysteria

(Emotions release unchartered)
Then sleep soundly cradled by its own rhythm

(New hope is found)

The earth and I change with each storm
Unique beauty is born

dVerse prompt is Ekphrasis poetry. Being inspired by a piece of art. These beautiful paintings are from Fay Collins of England.

  1. I love your use of parenthesis to distinguish your “I” from the world, and the way your sensations and the world’s echo each other. And that final pair of lines is very fine. It’s nice to see a sequence of paintings used, as well. Thank you for sharing with us.
