Bone and flesh
Framed in this space
No matter how I move
I can’t escape
But I can see
And other eyes see me

I can’t escape. But I can see
And other eyes see me
One sees all the pain in the environment and others put the blame on us. Very true assertion Mary!

“No matter how I move / I can’t escape”…..So suffocating, like the present world itself. Nicely put.

We tend to think we are not being watched by others especially if we can’t see anyone, but who knows what or who is watching. Good description of what an open eye in street art could symbolize.

Longing….that title says it all. Reading the title, and then the words of your poem…and seeing the image, one can surmise the “position” of this street artist…the wish for more…but at the very least, the idea that their “eye” is now bearing witness to others who only glance and move on, ignoring the issues of the streets. That’s just my take on it….which is surely the sign of good writing…you’ve made me move into the words and wonder about them. Well done!

Thank you Lillian! These prompts are challenging for this novice. Always glad, and somewhat relieved, when they make sense to another.

Hey Mary, we picked the same image. I’ll put a link to yours on my page?

I think the perspective from the inside and outside are different but those other eyes should not define us ~
