A Diet of Words

Words remind me of an open buffet
All you can eat for one price
Mixing and matching
Metaphors and similes
With feelings and stories
Pouring into your mind like flavors
That temptknowing you’ve arrived hungry

Later reality hits you
Right where they settled
Tossing and turning
They sounded good
They rhymed…or not
Were they the good choice?
Senses took hold for a pleasure moment
Etched words can be like cement
Tears harden

Dverse prompt of my own choosing.

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. I love Jesus and sharing my faith through written words. I currently have a poetry blog and also write on medium.com. My main focus is hope in Christ. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused.

Nice ominous ending about words being like cement.

This is very clever. I adore the word “temptknowing.” Excellent work.

The good thing about writing and our word choices are that they can be changed…much like our diet! 🙂
