Still playing

Throw the pebble to the square
Set a goal, leave it there
On one foot, off you go
Take the steps, oft alone,
Double down, rest a bit
Unbalanced gait, take a break
Finish line is now in view
What if I fail to carry through
Maybe I will lose a turn
All for better lessons learned
Hopscotch, just a childhood game
But some rules throughout life won’t change
We always cast our dreams ahead
Striving e’er to catch them

Prompt: A poem using imagery of a game or sport

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. Recently I have begun writing a couple of blogs. One poetry and one on hope. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused. Soon to be added is another blog...writings on hope from a biblical perspective. Now it can be seen at please feel free to visit.
