The Butterfly

She sits unaware
And we watch silently
Her rich, vibrant wings
Marveling at her strength in delicate form
She knows what to do
She asks no one
Once a caterpillar bound to the earth
Surrendered to sleep
Awakened to beauty
Taking flight with new purpose
What can we learn from this?

Prompt: a poem about something in nature. Today I spent the afternoon at Magic Wings, a butterfly conservatory.

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. Recently I have begun writing a couple of blogs. One poetry and one on hope. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused. Soon to be added is another blog...writings on hope from a biblical perspective. Now it can be seen at please feel free to visit.
