The Heart of the Matter

Painted the color of butter
Not like mustard or bright sunshine
A rocking chair in the corner
A rack of scarves on the wall
Bookcases but not enough
White lace curtains covering broken window panes
A closet full of sewing projects and needlework
Never finished
A table with books and papers strewn
Art and words flagrant with purpose on walls
Pictures of family watching all from strategic angles
When I saw you approaching, you looked the same, until we stood face to face.

–Today’s prompt… Description of a thing or place with the last line being seemingly abstract and unrelated, but is really.

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. Recently I have begun writing a couple of blogs. One poetry and one on hope. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused. Soon to be added is another blog...writings on hope from a biblical perspective. Now it can be seen at please feel free to visit.
