My Cat, What She’s Not

My cat, she isn’t the best company

I can’t look to her for advice

She ignores me when I call her name

And when feeding her she walks by twice

Pretending that she doesn’t care

Nor need what I supply

Why, mostly she just sleeps all day

Not caring should I even try

But Oh, when she is in her mood

That I should tend to her,

She lets me know that she’s around

And makes her wants be heard

No matter if I have a book

Or writing tool in hand

E’en a sip or taste I fare

She’s right there with command

She’s not someone who shares the road

She wants it all her way

But the day she leaves, yes, she’s getting old

I’ll be begging her to stay.
