Philip Seymour Hoffman

Dead at 46

I never knew his name

But I was watching Hunger Games when the news came

Mockingjay

       Mocking jay

And what a mocking of a life so talented

So many can’t handle the success

They learn their roles

But never know their role

Or so the drugs tell them

And Truman Capote couldn’t live with his real name

Persons? He’d rather be one.

What are you trying to say?

“I think I’m saying it”…said Freddie Miles

So sad an end to a talented life

That many weep

And I didn’t even know him

But the heroin won

Prompt: A New York School poem

About Mary (tqhousecat)

I am a wife and a mother of two grown children. Recently I have begun writing a couple of blogs. One poetry and one on hope. I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused. Soon to be added is another blog...writings on hope from a biblical perspective. Now it can be seen at purplepandasandotherphenomena.blogspot.com. please feel free to visit.
