A sonnet to my blanket

Oh, how I cherish the love that I feel

When you are with me

Oh, how I miss you when you are gone

But I know it would be foolish to be always together

For some may think me precarious and forlorn

And after a day of feigning contentment

To finally be where you are is like bliss

You wrap yourself around me with no resentment

Safe in your hold, sweet as a kiss

We have traveled a lifetime and you have been faithful

whether I am awake or asleep

You wait patiently trusting I’ll always return

After many hours or days, even weeks

And though the years have rendered you tattered

I could never submit to us being apart

It surely would leave me utterly shattered

For we have captured each others’ heart

The prompt is “write a love poem to an inanimate object”

I only wish that whoever reads this will be blessed, inspired and occasionally amused. Soon to be added is another blog...writings on hope from a biblical perspective.
