Give me Hope

Lord, give me hope
For there are things
I do not understand.
It’s hard for me to fathom
That all has been your plan.
Sometimes my will takes me
Where I never meant to be;
There are many times I feel
The darkness cover me.
You spoke into the dark and void
The words ‘Let there be light’.
You took mud and on his eyes
Gave the blind man sight.
You walked on water in the midst
Of torrent waves and wind
And said ‘do not be afraid’;
The storm came to an end.
You speak, you touch and walk right through
Our futile, common lives
Instilling hope as you pass
And never leave our side.
So as I awaken once again
As slumber leaves my eyes
Lord give me hope and may I sense
Your presence as my guide.
