Still the Storm

Listening to thunder and quiet rain

Seeing flashes of lightning through window panes

Invading the darkness shadows reveal

Things that in daylight are never concealed

I waver and stumble when I walk in the night

Perception is altered when there is no light

Outlines and images deceive the mind

You think you know but you are blind

So careful not to stir I lie still and awake

I feel unrest before the dawn breaks

Pondering answers I already know

Longing within for courage to grow

And soon I recall true light is in Christ

He promised to be there through all of my life

His word is a light unto my feet

And thinking of that I drift off to sleep

And I know that to live for Him is my gain

And I find peace listening to thunder and quiet rain
