Exaggeration (For Ruth Ann)

I gasped in horror when I heard you fell down a million stairs

Survived but now in traction maybe for several years

And your family, oh how tragic, may have to all come home

I can only imagine the bedlam that will cause.

But wait I have a solution; I’ll come and move right in

I haven’t seen you forever and now we’ll be together again.

I’ll serve you dawn to midnight, your every whim provide

You’ll never have to worry I’ll be right at your side

I’ll cook and clean, your calls I’ll screen, for I’ll know what is best

I’ll rearrange your schedule and make sure you get your rest.

Your children now can stay away, your husband, he can breathe

They’ll be no cause for worry when I come on the scene.

Oh I just got a message, A million wasn’t true

And years have turned to weeks? Oh, a minute to construe

I guess moving in just wouldn’t do!

This is personal for my friend who fell.
